1320 SW Broadway Street
Portland, OR 97201
In July 2016, Ristretto Roasters founder and owner Din Johnson attended a launch event for 1320 Broadway. Guests included 150 members of the Architecture Foundation of Oregon, who were here to see how the building, by architect Pietro Belluschi and built in 1948 for the Oregonian newspaper, had been brought back to its immense former glory. In one corner of the lobby, the length of a city block with soaring 30-foot high ceilings, stood a beautiful espresso bar, Ristretto Roasters fifth location. Recalling the business’s first location in Portland’s Beaumont neighborhood, a 600 square-foot café (including roasting room) that he built himself in 2005, Johnson leaned toward his wife and whispered, “A little different from the Beaumont cafe.” 1320 offers a cross-current of what Portland is now, the Amazon/Elemental companies headquartered in the building, and students at PSU, and business and arts communities and visitors and more visitors wanting to know what Portland and coffee is all about. Want on-site coffee catering for your office at 1320? We can do that.
